Ingredients

2 cups whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup water
2 tablespoons oil

Instructions

  1. 1 In a large bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. 2 Gradually add water to the dry ingredients, mixing continuously to form a soft dough.
  3. 3 Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
  4. 4 Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  5. 5 Divide the dough into small, equal-sized portions and shape each into a ball.
  6. 6 Flatten each ball into a round disc about 1/2 inch thick using a rolling pin.
  7. 7 Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease it with oil.
  8. 8 Place the flattened dough on the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  9. 9 Repeat the process with the remaining dough portions.
  10. 10 Serve the khambir warm with butter, jam, or traditional Ladakhi dishes.
