Ingredients

1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup jaggery
1 cup water
1 tablespoon ghee
1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. 1 In a pan, add jaggery and water, and heat until the jaggery dissolves completely. Strain to remove impurities.
  2. 2 Return the jaggery syrup to the pan and simmer until it thickens slightly.
  3. 3 Add ghee and cardamom powder to the syrup, mix well, and allow it to cool.
  4. 4 In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour and salt.
  5. 5 Gradually add the cooled jaggery syrup to the flour, kneading into a soft dough.
  6. 6 Divide the dough into small balls and roll each ball into a thin circle.
  7. 7 Heat a tawa or flat pan over medium heat.
  8. 8 Place the rolled dough on the tawa and cook until golden brown spots appear on both sides, applying a little oil as needed.
  9. 9 Repeat with the remaining dough balls.
  10. 10 Serve warm.

Tips

Ensure the jaggery syrup is not too watery to avoid sticky dough.
