Ingredients

1 liter colostrum milk (cheek)
1 cup jaggery
1 teaspoon cardamom powder
1 pinch nutmeg powder
1 tablespoon ghee
1 tablespoon chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1 In a large mixing bowl, combine the colostrum milk and jaggery.
  2. 2 Stir well until the jaggery is completely dissolved in the milk.
  3. 3 Add cardamom powder and nutmeg powder to the mixture and mix thoroughly.
  4. 4 Grease a deep dish or container with ghee to prevent sticking.
  5. 5 Pour the milk mixture into the greased dish.
  6. 6 Place the dish in a steamer and steam for about 30-40 minutes on medium heat until the mixture sets.
  7. 7 Check with a toothpick; if it comes out clean, the kharwas is ready.
  8. 8 Allow it to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set completely.
  9. 9 Once chilled, cut into squares or desired shapes.
  10. 10 Garnish with chopped nuts before serving, if desired.

Tips

Ensure the jaggery is completely dissolved to avoid lumps in the kharwas.
