Ingredients

1 cup | Coconut , grated |

1 cup | Cabbage , finely chopped |
|
1 teaspoon | Mustard Seed |
|
1 tablespoon | Vegetable oil |
|
2 tablespoons | Onion , finely chopped |
|
2 | Red Chili , dried |
|
1 teaspoon | Turmeric powder |
|
1 teaspoon | Salt |
|
1 tablespoon | Tamarind , pulp |
|
1 tablespoon | Cilantro , chopped |
Instructions
- 1 Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.
- 2 Once the mustard seeds splutter, add the dried red chilies and sauté for a few seconds.
- 3 Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
- 4 Add the finely chopped cabbage and stir well.
- 5 Sprinkle turmeric powder and salt over the cabbage and mix thoroughly.
- 6 Cover the pan and let the cabbage cook on low flame for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 7 Once the cabbage is cooked, add the grated coconut and mix well.
- 8 Add the tamarind pulp and stir to combine all the ingredients.
- 9 Cook for another 2-3 minutes and then turn off the heat.
- 10 Garnish with chopped coriander leaves before serving.
Tips
For a spicier version, add more dried red chilies or a pinch of red chili powder.
