Ingredients
| 1 cup | koovale (bamboo) leaves |
| 1 cup | rice flour |
| 1/4 cup | freshly grated coconut |
| 1/2 teaspoon | salt |
| 1/2 cup | water |
Instructions
- 1 Wash the koovale leaves thoroughly and set aside.
- 2 In a mixing bowl, combine the rice flour and salt.
- 3 Gradually add water to the rice flour mixture, stirring continuously to form a crumbly texture.
- 4 Add the freshly grated coconut to the mixture and mix well.
- 5 Place a koovale leaf on a flat surface and spread a portion of the rice flour mixture evenly over it.
- 6 Fold the leaf over the mixture to form a parcel.
- 7 Repeat the process with the remaining leaves and mixture.
- 8 Arrange the parcels in a steamer.
- 9 Steam the parcels for about 30-35 minutes or until the rice flour is cooked through.
- 10 Remove from the steamer and let cool slightly before serving.
Tips
Ensure the rice flour mixture is crumbly and not too wet for the best texture.
