Ingredients
| 1.5 cups | short-grain white rice |
| 2 cups | water |
Instructions
- 1 Measure 1.5 cups of short-grain white rice into a bowl.
- 2 Rinse the rice under cold water, gently swirling the grains with your hand, and drain the water. Repeat this process 2-3 times until the water runs clear.
- 3 After rinsing, let the rice soak in clean water for about 30 minutes.
- 4 Drain the soaked rice and transfer it to a pot with a tight-fitting lid.
- 5 Add 2 cups of water to the pot with the rice.
- 6 Place the pot on the stove over medium-high heat and bring the water to a boil.
- 7 Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot with the lid, and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
- 8 After 15 minutes, turn off the heat and let the rice sit, covered, for an additional 10 minutes to finish steaming.
- 9 Fluff the rice gently with a rice paddle or fork before serving.
Tips
For a more authentic taste, use a traditional Korean earthenware pot (ddukbaegi) for cooking the rice.
