Ingredients
| 500 grams | chicken, cut into pieces |
| 2 tablespoons | oil |
| 1 teaspoon | fennel seeds |
| 2 | onions, finely sliced |
| 2 tablespoons | ginger-garlic paste |
| 2 | green chilies, slit |
| 1 teaspoon | turmeric powder |
| 2 tablespoons | red chili powder |
| 1 tablespoon | coriander powder |
| 1 teaspoon | garam masala |
| 2 tablespoons | lemon juice |
| 1 | curry leaves sprig |
| — | salt to taste |
Instructions
- 1 Heat oil in a pan and add fennel seeds.
- 2 Once the seeds splutter, add sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
- 3 Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté until the raw smell disappears.
- 4 Add the chicken pieces and cook until they turn white.
- 5 Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.
- 6 Cover and cook the chicken on medium heat for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 7 Once the chicken is cooked, add garam masala, lemon juice, and curry leaves.
- 8 Increase the heat and sauté until the chicken is dry and roasted.
- 9 Serve hot with rice or roti.
Tips
For extra flavor, marinate the chicken with spices for 30 minutes before cooking.
