Ingredients
| 500 grams | country chicken (natukodi), cut into pieces |
| 2 tablespoons | oil |
| 1 large | onion, finely sliced |
| 2 teaspoons | ginger-garlic paste |
| 2 teaspoons | red chili powder |
| 1 teaspoon | turmeric powder |
| 1 teaspoon | coriander powder |
| 1 teaspoon | cumin powder |
| 1 teaspoon | garam masala |
| 2 tablespoons | curd (yogurt) |
| 1 handful | curry leaves |
| 2 tablespoons | coriander leaves, chopped |
| — | salt to taste |
Instructions
- 1 Clean the country chicken thoroughly and set aside.
- 2 Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and add the sliced onions.
- 3 Sauté the onions until they turn golden brown.
- 4 Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another 2 minutes until the raw smell disappears.
- 5 Add the chicken pieces to the pan and stir well.
- 6 Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix well to coat the chicken with the spices.
- 7 Cover and cook the chicken on low heat for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 8 Add the curd and mix well. Cook for another 10 minutes until the chicken is tender and the oil starts to separate.
- 9 Sprinkle garam masala and add curry leaves. Stir well and cook for another 5 minutes.
- 10 Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
Tips
For a more authentic taste, use freshly ground spices and cook on a low flame to enhance the flavors.
