Ingredients
| 1 cup | sticky rice |
| 3 cups | water |
| 1 tablespoon | mustard oil |
| 1 | bay leaf |
| 1 teaspoon | salt |
Instructions
- 1 Wash the sticky rice thoroughly under running water until the water runs clear.
- 2 Soak the rice in water for about 20 minutes.
- 3 Drain the soaked rice and set it aside.
- 4 In a pot, bring 3 cups of water to a boil.
- 5 Add the mustard oil and bay leaf to the boiling water.
- 6 Stir in the drained rice and add salt to taste.
- 7 Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let the rice simmer for about 30-35 minutes until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.
- 8 Remove from heat and let it sit covered for another 5 minutes.
- 9 Fluff the rice gently with a fork before serving.
Tips
For a more aromatic flavor, you can add a few whole spices like cardamom or cloves while boiling the rice.
