Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons ghee
1 cup grated coconut
1/2 cup jaggery
1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
1/4 cup water
6-8 cloves
1 cup oil for frying

Instructions

  1. 1 In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour with 2 tablespoons of ghee and a pinch of salt. Add water gradually to form a smooth dough. Cover and let it rest for 20 minutes.
  2. 2 In a pan, heat the grated coconut and jaggery together until the jaggery melts and combines with the coconut. Add cardamom powder and mix well. Set aside to cool.
  3. 3 Divide the dough into small balls and roll each into a small circle.
  4. 4 Place a spoonful of the coconut-jaggery mixture in the center of each circle. Fold the edges over the filling to form a parcel.
  5. 5 Secure each parcel with a clove, piercing through the dough to keep it closed.
  6. 6 Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the parcels until golden brown and crisp.
  7. 7 Drain on paper towels and serve warm.

Tips

Ensure the jaggery mixture is cooled before filling to avoid tearing the dough.
