Ingredients

2 cups whole wheat flour
1 tablespoon ghee
1 teaspoon salt
as needed water
as needed ghee for cooking

Instructions

  1. 1 In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and salt.
  2. 2 Add ghee to the flour and mix well to incorporate.
  3. 3 Gradually add water and knead to form a soft, pliable dough. Cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  4. 4 Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.
  5. 5 Take one dough ball, dust it with flour, and roll it out into a thin circle.
  6. 6 Spread a thin layer of ghee over the rolled dough.
  7. 7 Using a knife, make a cut from the center to the edge of the circle.
  8. 8 Start rolling the dough from one end to the other to form a cone shape.
  9. 9 Press the cone down gently to flatten it slightly and roll it out again into a circle.
  10. 10 Heat a tawa or flat pan over medium heat and place the rolled paratha on it.
  11. 11 Cook for 1-2 minutes until bubbles appear, then flip it over.
  12. 12 Apply ghee on the cooked side and flip again. Apply ghee on the other side as well.
  13. 13 Cook until both sides are golden brown and crispy.
  14. 14 Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls.
  15. 15 Serve hot with your choice of curry or yogurt.

Tips

For flakier parathas, ensure the dough is well-rested and roll it out evenly.
