Ingredients

1 cup black sticky rice
4 cups water
1 pinch salt
1 tablespoon jaggery

Instructions

  1. 1 Rinse the black sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. 2 In a medium pot, combine the rinsed rice and water.
  3. 3 Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
  4. 4 Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for about 30 minutes.
  5. 5 Check the rice; it should be tender and the water mostly absorbed. If necessary, cook for an additional 5-10 minutes.
  6. 6 Stir in a pinch of salt and the jaggery, mixing well until the jaggery is fully dissolved.
  7. 7 Remove from heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes before serving.

Tips

For a richer taste, you can add a splash of coconut milk before serving.
