Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon instant yeast
3/4 cup warm water
2 tablespoons olive oil
extra flour for dusting

Instructions

  1. 1 In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and instant yeast.
  2. 2 Add the warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients.
  3. 3 Mix the ingredients together until a dough begins to form.
  4. 4 Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. 5 Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. 6 Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  7. 7 Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.
  8. 8 On a floured surface, roll each ball into a thin circle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  9. 9 Place the rolled dough onto the hot skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown and puffed.
  10. 10 Repeat with the remaining dough portions.
  11. 11 Serve warm and enjoy with your favorite dips or toppings.

Tips

For a softer texture, cover the flatbreads with a clean towel as they come off the skillet to retain moisture.
