1 cup | Water , warm |
|
1 tablespoon | Vegetable oil , for frying |

1/4 cup | Date Syrup , or honey |
Instructions
- 1 In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- 2 Gradually add the warm water to the dry ingredients, mixing until smooth.
- 3 Stir in the tablespoon of vegetable oil and mix until the batter is well combined.
- 4 Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let the batter rest in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- 5 Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- 6 Once the oil is hot, use a spoon to drop small amounts of batter into the oil, forming round balls.
- 7 Fry the luqaimat until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 3-4 minutes.
- 8 Remove the luqaimat from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- 9 Drizzle the warm date syrup or honey over the luqaimat before serving.
Tips
For a more authentic flavor, sprinkle sesame seeds or ground cardamom over the luqaimat before serving.
