Ingredients
| 1 cup | chana dal |
| 1 cup | jaggery |
| 1 cup | freshly grated coconut |
| 1/4 teaspoon | cardamom powder |
| 1 tablespoon | ghee |
| 10 | cashew nuts |
| 10 | raisins |
| 2 cups | water |
Instructions
- 1 Wash the chana dal thoroughly and soak it in water for about 30 minutes.
- 2 Drain the soaked chana dal and pressure cook it with 2 cups of water until soft but not mushy.
- 3 In a pan, add ghee and roast the cashew nuts and raisins until golden brown. Set aside.
- 4 In the same pan, add the cooked chana dal and grated coconut. Mix well.
- 5 Add jaggery to the mixture and cook on low heat until the jaggery melts and blends well with the dal and coconut.
- 6 Stir in the cardamom powder and mix thoroughly.
- 7 Garnish with the roasted cashew nuts and raisins before serving.
Tips
Ensure the chana dal is cooked just right; it should be soft but retain its shape.
