Ingredients
| 1 cup | mahua flowers |
| 1 cup | wheat flour |
| 1/2 cup | jaggery |
| 1/4 cup | ghee |
| 1/4 teaspoon | cardamom powder |
| 2 tablespoons | chopped nuts (cashews, almonds) |
| — | water as needed |
Instructions
- 1 Clean and soak the mahua flowers in water for 2-3 hours.
- 2 Drain the soaked mahua flowers and grind them into a coarse paste.
- 3 In a pan, dry roast the wheat flour on low heat until it turns golden brown and emits a nutty aroma. Set aside.
- 4 In another pan, heat ghee and add the ground mahua paste. Cook for 5-7 minutes until it starts to release its aroma.
- 5 Add the roasted wheat flour to the mahua paste and mix well.
- 6 In a separate pan, melt the jaggery with a little water to form a syrup. Strain to remove impurities.
- 7 Pour the jaggery syrup into the mahua-wheat mixture and stir continuously.
- 8 Add cardamom powder and chopped nuts to the mixture and combine thoroughly.
- 9 Cook the mixture until it thickens and starts leaving the sides of the pan.
- 10 Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then shape into small ladoos using your hands.
- 11 Let the ladoos cool completely before serving.
Tips
Ensure the jaggery syrup is not too watery to help the ladoos bind well.
