1 cup | Flour |

1 cup | Banana , ripe, mashed |
|
1/4 cup | Semolina |
|
1/2 cup | Sugar |
|
1/4 teaspoon | Fennel Seed |
|
1/4 teaspoon | Cardamom , powder |
|
1/2 cup | Milk , full-fat |
|
1 pinch | Salt |
|
as needed | Water |
|
as needed | Ghee , or oil for frying |
|
1/4 cup | Nut , chopped (optional) |
Instructions
- 1 In a large mixing bowl, combine mashed bananas, all-purpose flour, semolina, sugar, fennel seeds, cardamom powder, and a pinch of salt.
- 2 Gradually add milk and mix well to form a smooth batter. The consistency should be similar to pancake batter.
- 3 If the batter is too thick, add a little water to adjust the consistency.
- 4 Cover the batter and let it rest for about 15-20 minutes.
- 5 Heat ghee or oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- 6 Pour a small ladleful of batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides.
- 7 Remove the malpua from the pan and drain excess oil on paper towels.
- 8 Repeat the process with the remaining batter.
- 9 Garnish with chopped nuts if desired and serve warm.
Tips
For a richer flavor, use ghee instead of oil for frying.
