| 2 | ripe bananas |
| 2 cups | all-purpose flour |
| 1 tablespoon | sugar |
| 1 teaspoon | baking soda |
| 1 tablespoon | yogurt |
| 1 tablespoon | ghee |
| 1/4 teaspoon | salt |
| 1 teaspoon | cumin seeds |
| — | oil for deep frying |
Instructions
- 1 Peel and mash the ripe bananas in a mixing bowl until smooth.
- 2 Add sugar, yogurt, ghee, and salt to the mashed bananas and mix well.
- 3 In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour and baking soda.
- 4 Gradually add the flour mixture to the banana mixture, mixing to form a soft dough.
- 5 Add cumin seeds and knead the dough lightly until all ingredients are well combined.
- 6 Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 6-8 hours or overnight.
- 7 After resting, divide the dough into small balls.
- 8 Roll each ball into a small, thick disc using a rolling pin.
- 9 Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- 10 Once the oil is hot, gently slide in the rolled dough discs and fry until golden brown on both sides.
- 11 Remove the buns from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- 12 Serve the Mangalore buns warm with coconut chutney or sambar.
