Ingredients

1 cup ripe mango pieces
1/2 cup grated coconut
2 teaspoons jaggery
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
2 teaspoons red chili powder
1 pinch asafoetida
salt to taste
1 cup water

Instructions

  1. 1 In a blender, grind the grated coconut, mustard seeds, and red chili powder into a smooth paste using a little water.
  2. 2 In a mixing bowl, combine the mango pieces, ground paste, jaggery, and salt.
  3. 3 Add water to adjust the consistency as desired.
  4. 4 Mix well and let it sit for 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. 5 Serve the Mango Sasam at room temperature.

Use ripe, sweet mangoes for the best flavor. Adjust jaggery and chili powder to taste.
