Ingredients

1 cup glutinous rice
1 1/2 cups coconut milk
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 ripe mangoes
1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. 1 Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. 2 Soak the rice in water for at least 1 hour, then drain.
  3. 3 Steam the rice in a bamboo steamer or a rice cooker for about 20-25 minutes until cooked.
  4. 4 While the rice is cooking, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat.
  5. 5 Stir until the sugar dissolves, then remove from heat.
  6. 6 Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl and pour 1 cup of the coconut milk mixture over it.
  7. 7 Stir well to combine, then cover and let it sit for 30 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  8. 8 Peel and slice the mangoes.
  9. 9 To serve, place a portion of sticky rice on a plate, arrange mango slices on top or beside the rice.
  10. 10 Drizzle with the remaining coconut milk mixture and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Tips

For a more aromatic dish, try adding a pandan leaf to the coconut milk mixture while heating.
