Ingredients

1 bunch maroi nakuppi (Chinese chives)
1 cup besan (gram flour)
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon red chili powder
0.5 teaspoon turmeric powder
salt to taste
water as needed
oil for frying

Instructions

  1. 1 Wash the maroi nakuppi thoroughly and chop it finely.
  2. 2 In a mixing bowl, combine besan, chopped maroi nakuppi, onion, garlic, cumin seeds, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt.
  3. 3 Gradually add water to the mixture to form a thick batter.
  4. 4 Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  5. 5 Once the oil is hot, drop spoonfuls of the batter into the oil.
  6. 6 Fry the fritters until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides.
  7. 7 Remove the fritters and drain excess oil on a paper towel.
  8. 8 Serve hot as a snack or side dish.

Tips

Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to prevent the fritters from absorbing too much oil.
