Ingredients
| 1 pound | russet potatoes |
| 2 tablespoons | unsalted butter |
| 1/4 cup | whole milk |

Instructions
- 1 Peel the russet potatoes and cut them into evenly sized chunks.
- 2 Place the potato chunks in a large pot and cover them with cold water.
- 3 Add a pinch of salt to the water and bring it to a boil over medium-high heat.
- 4 Reduce the heat to a simmer and cook the potatoes for 15-20 minutes, or until they are tender when pierced with a fork.
- 5 Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
- 6 Add the butter and milk to the potatoes.
- 7 Mash the potatoes using a potato masher or fork until smooth and creamy.
- 8 Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- 9 Serve the mashed potatoes warm.
Tips
For extra creaminess, use heavy cream instead of milk.
