Ingredients

1 cup mawa (khoya)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon fennel seeds
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  1. 1 In a bowl, crumble the mawa and mix it with all-purpose flour, milk, fennel seeds, sugar, and baking powder to form a smooth batter.
  2. 2 Let the batter rest for 15 minutes.
  3. 3 Meanwhile, prepare the sugar syrup by boiling 1 cup of sugar with 1/2 cup of water until it reaches a sticky consistency. Add cardamom powder and set aside.
  4. 4 Heat ghee in a pan over medium heat.
  5. 5 Pour a small ladleful of batter into the hot ghee and fry until golden brown on both sides.
  6. 6 Remove the malpua from the ghee and dip it in the warm sugar syrup for a few seconds.
  7. 7 Garnish with chopped nuts before serving.

Tips

Ensure the sugar syrup is warm when dipping the malpua for better absorption.
