Ingredients

1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup jaggery
1 cup water
1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
1 tablespoon ghee
oil for shallow frying

Instructions

  1. 1 In a bowl, dissolve the jaggery in water by stirring continuously until fully melted.
  2. 2 Add whole wheat flour to the jaggery water mixture gradually, stirring to avoid lumps.
  3. 3 Mix in the cardamom powder and ghee, and whisk the batter until smooth and of pouring consistency.
  4. 4 Heat a non-stick pan and lightly grease it with oil.
  5. 5 Pour a ladleful of batter onto the pan and spread it into a circular shape.
  6. 6 Cook on medium heat until the edges start to lift and the bottom is golden brown.
  7. 7 Flip the pooda and cook the other side until golden brown.
  8. 8 Repeat the process with the remaining batter.
  9. 9 Serve hot as a sweet snack or dessert.

Tips

For a richer flavor, you can add a pinch of saffron strands to the batter.
