Ingredients
| 500 grams | beef, cut into chunks |
| 2 tablespoons | mustard oil |
| 1 large | onion, sliced |
| 5 cloves | garlic, minced |
| 1 inch | ginger, minced |
| 2 cups | water |
| 2 pieces | bay leaves |
| 1 teaspoon | black peppercorns |
| 2 teaspoons | salt |
| 1 teaspoon | turmeric powder |
| 2 tablespoons | fresh coriander leaves, chopped |
Instructions
- 1 Heat mustard oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- 2 Add sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
- 3 Add minced garlic and ginger, and sauté for another minute.
- 4 Add beef chunks to the pot and brown them on all sides.
- 5 Pour in the water and add bay leaves, black peppercorns, salt, and turmeric powder.
- 6 Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low.
- 7 Cover the pot and let it simmer for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the beef is tender.
- 8 Stir occasionally and check if more water is needed to keep the stew from drying out.
- 9 Once the beef is cooked and tender, adjust the seasoning if needed.
- 10 Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
Tips
For a richer flavor, marinate the beef with salt and turmeric for 30 minutes before cooking.
