Ingredients

1 cup rice flour
1/2 cup jowar flour
1 cup fresh methi leaves, chopped
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 tablespoons fresh coconut, grated
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
2 teaspoons green chilies, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon salt
water as needed
oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. 1 In a large mixing bowl, combine rice flour, jowar flour, chopped methi leaves, chopped onion, grated coconut, cumin seeds, green chilies, turmeric powder, and salt.
  2. 2 Gradually add water to the mixture to form a soft, pliable dough. The dough should not be too sticky or too dry.
  3. 3 Divide the dough into small portions and shape each portion into a ball.
  4. 4 Take a ball of dough and flatten it on a greased plastic sheet or banana leaf using your fingers to form a thin, round rotti.
  5. 5 Heat a tawa or griddle over medium heat and drizzle some oil on it.
  6. 6 Carefully transfer the flattened rotti onto the hot tawa.
  7. 7 Cook the rotti on medium heat until golden brown spots appear on one side, then flip and cook the other side similarly.
  8. 8 Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls.
  9. 9 Serve hot with chutney or yogurt.

Tips

For softer rottis, ensure the dough is well-hydrated and rested for a few minutes before cooking.
