Ingredients
| 1 cup | rice flour |
| 1/2 cup | jowar flour |
| 1 cup | fresh methi leaves, chopped |
| 1 medium | onion, finely chopped |
| 2 tablespoons | fresh coconut, grated |
| 1 teaspoon | cumin seeds |
| 2 teaspoons | green chilies, finely chopped |
| 1/2 teaspoon | turmeric powder |
| 1 teaspoon | salt |
| — | water as needed |
| — | oil for cooking |
Instructions
- 1 In a large mixing bowl, combine rice flour, jowar flour, chopped methi leaves, chopped onion, grated coconut, cumin seeds, green chilies, turmeric powder, and salt.
- 2 Gradually add water to the mixture to form a soft, pliable dough. The dough should not be too sticky or too dry.
- 3 Divide the dough into small portions and shape each portion into a ball.
- 4 Take a ball of dough and flatten it on a greased plastic sheet or banana leaf using your fingers to form a thin, round rotti.
- 5 Heat a tawa or griddle over medium heat and drizzle some oil on it.
- 6 Carefully transfer the flattened rotti onto the hot tawa.
- 7 Cook the rotti on medium heat until golden brown spots appear on one side, then flip and cook the other side similarly.
- 8 Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls.
- 9 Serve hot with chutney or yogurt.
Tips
For softer rottis, ensure the dough is well-hydrated and rested for a few minutes before cooking.
