Ingredients
1 cup | Green Gram , whole |
1/4 cup | Rice , raw |
1 medium | Onion , finely chopped |
2 tablespoons | Ginger , finely chopped |
2 tablespoons | Chili , finely chopped |
1/4 teaspoon | Cumin , seeds |
1/4 teaspoon | Salt , to taste |
2 tablespoons | Oil |
1 cup | Upma , cooked semolina |
1/4 cup | Cilantro , chopped |
Instructions
- 1 Wash and soak the whole green gram and rice together in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- 2 Drain the soaked mixture and grind it with ginger, green chilies, and cumin seeds to a smooth batter, adding water as needed.
- 3 Stir in salt to taste into the batter.
- 4 Heat a non-stick pan or griddle over medium heat and drizzle a little oil.
- 5 Pour a ladleful of batter onto the pan and spread it in a circular motion to make a thin dosa.
- 6 Drizzle a little oil around the edges and cook until the edges start to lift and the bottom is golden brown.
- 7 Spread a spoonful of upma over the pesarattu and sprinkle some chopped onions and coriander leaves.
- 8 Fold the pesarattu and serve hot with chutney or pickle.
Tips
For a crispier texture, ensure the batter is not too thick and the pan is properly heated before pouring the batter.
