Ingredients

Green Gram 1 cup Green Gram , whole
Rice 1/4 cup Rice , raw
Onion 1 medium Onion , finely chopped
Ginger 2 tablespoons Ginger , finely chopped
Chili 2 tablespoons Chili , finely chopped
Cumin 1/4 teaspoon Cumin , seeds
salt 1/4 teaspoon Salt , to taste
oil 2 tablespoons Oil
Upma 1 cup Upma , cooked semolina
Cilantro 1/4 cup Cilantro , chopped

Instructions

  1. 1 Wash and soak the whole green gram and rice together in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. 2 Drain the soaked mixture and grind it with ginger, green chilies, and cumin seeds to a smooth batter, adding water as needed.
  3. 3 Stir in salt to taste into the batter.
  4. 4 Heat a non-stick pan or griddle over medium heat and drizzle a little oil.
  5. 5 Pour a ladleful of batter onto the pan and spread it in a circular motion to make a thin dosa.
  6. 6 Drizzle a little oil around the edges and cook until the edges start to lift and the bottom is golden brown.
  7. 7 Spread a spoonful of upma over the pesarattu and sprinkle some chopped onions and coriander leaves.
  8. 8 Fold the pesarattu and serve hot with chutney or pickle.

Tips

For a crispier texture, ensure the batter is not too thick and the pan is properly heated before pouring the batter.
