Ingredients

2 cups water
2 tablespoons black tea leaves
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/4 cup whole milk

Instructions

  1. 1 Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan.
  2. 2 Add the black tea leaves and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. 3 Strain the tea leaves and return the tea to the saucepan.
  4. 4 Add salt to the tea and stir until dissolved.
  5. 5 Add the butter and milk to the tea.
  6. 6 Use a churner or blender to blend the mixture until it becomes frothy and well emulsified.
  7. 7 Pour the butter tea into cups and serve hot.

Tips

For an authentic taste, use yak butter if available.
