| 1 cup | moong dal (split green gram) |
| 1 medium | onion, finely chopped |
| 2 tablespoons | fresh coriander leaves, chopped |
| 1 teaspoon | cumin seeds |
| 1 teaspoon | red chili powder |
| 1 teaspoon | turmeric powder |
| 1 teaspoon | ginger paste |
| 1 teaspoon | garlic paste |
| 1 tablespoon | rice flour |
| — | salt to taste |
| — | oil for deep frying |
Instructions
- 1 Wash the moong dal thoroughly and soak it in water for at least 2 hours.
- 2 Drain the soaked moong dal and grind it to a coarse paste without adding water.
- 3 Transfer the dal paste to a mixing bowl and add chopped onions, coriander leaves, cumin seeds, red chili powder, turmeric powder, ginger paste, garlic paste, rice flour, and salt.
- 4 Mix all the ingredients well to form a thick batter.
- 5 Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- 6 Once the oil is hot, drop small portions of the batter into the oil using your fingers or a spoon.
- 7 Fry the bhajiyas until they turn golden brown and crispy.
- 8 Remove the bhajiyas from the oil and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- 9 Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.
Tips
Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to prevent the bhajiyas from absorbing too much oil.
