Ingredients

1 cup moong dal (split green gram)
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 tablespoons fresh coriander leaves, chopped
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon ginger paste
1 teaspoon garlic paste
1 tablespoon rice flour
salt to taste
oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. 1 Wash the moong dal thoroughly and soak it in water for at least 2 hours.
  2. 2 Drain the soaked moong dal and grind it to a coarse paste without adding water.
  3. 3 Transfer the dal paste to a mixing bowl and add chopped onions, coriander leaves, cumin seeds, red chili powder, turmeric powder, ginger paste, garlic paste, rice flour, and salt.
  4. 4 Mix all the ingredients well to form a thick batter.
  5. 5 Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  6. 6 Once the oil is hot, drop small portions of the batter into the oil using your fingers or a spoon.
  7. 7 Fry the bhajiyas until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  8. 8 Remove the bhajiyas from the oil and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  9. 9 Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.

Tips

Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to prevent the bhajiyas from absorbing too much oil.
