Ingredients
| 1 cup | moong dal (split green gram) |
| 1 cup | water |
| 1 teaspoon | cumin seeds |
| 1 teaspoon | red chili powder |
| 1 teaspoon | turmeric powder |
| 1 teaspoon | salt |
| 1 tablespoon | ginger-garlic paste |
| 1 tablespoon | fresh coriander leaves, chopped |
| 1 cup | oil for deep frying |
Instructions
- 1 Wash the moong dal thoroughly and soak it in water for 4-5 hours or overnight.
- 2 Drain the water from the soaked dal and grind it into a coarse paste without adding water.
- 3 Transfer the dal paste to a mixing bowl and add cumin seeds, red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt, and ginger-garlic paste.
- 4 Mix all the ingredients well to form a thick batter.
- 5 Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- 6 Once the oil is hot, drop small portions of the batter into the oil using your fingers or a spoon.
- 7 Fry the mungodis until they turn golden brown and crisp on all sides.
- 8 Remove the fried mungodis with a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- 9 Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
Tips
Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to make the mungodis crispy.
