Ingredients
| 1 cup | rice flour |
| 1/4 cup | urad dal flour |
| 1 tablespoon | butter |
| 1 teaspoon | cumin seeds |
| 1 teaspoon | sesame seeds |
| 1/2 teaspoon | asafoetida |
| — | salt to taste |
| — | water as needed |
| — | oil for deep frying |
Instructions
- 1 In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, urad dal flour, butter, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, asafoetida, and salt.
- 2 Gradually add water to the dry ingredients and knead into a soft, pliable dough.
- 3 Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- 4 Fill a murukku press with the dough and press it into spirals on a small piece of parchment paper.
- 5 Carefully slide the murukku into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy.
- 6 Remove the murukku from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- 7 Repeat the process with the remaining dough.
Tips
Ensure the oil is at the right temperature; too hot will burn the murukku, too cold will make it absorb more oil.
