Ingredients
| 2 cups | all-purpose flour |
| 1 teaspoon | salt |
| 1 tablespoon | vegetable oil |
| 3/4 cup | water |
| 250 grams | ground beef |
| 1 medium | onion, finely chopped |
| 1 teaspoon | ground cumin |
| 1/2 teaspoon | ground black pepper |
| 1/2 teaspoon | ground cinnamon |
| 1 cup | chopped fresh parsley |
| 1 large | egg |
| 2 tablespoons | vegetable oil for frying |
Instructions
- 1 In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt.
- 2 Add the vegetable oil and water to the flour mixture, and knead until a smooth dough forms.
- 3 Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- 4 In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
- 5 Add the chopped onion to the skillet and sauté until translucent.
- 6 Stir in the cumin, black pepper, and cinnamon, and cook for another 2 minutes.
- 7 Remove the skillet from heat and mix in the chopped parsley and egg.
- 8 Divide the dough into small balls and roll each into a thin circle.
- 9 Place a spoonful of the beef mixture in the center of each circle.
- 10 Fold the dough over the filling to form a square, sealing the edges.
- 11 Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
- 12 Fry each mutabbaq until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- 13 Drain on paper towels and serve warm.
Tips
For a vegetarian version, replace the beef with a mixture of cooked potatoes and peas.
