Ingredients
| 1 cup | sticky rice |
| 2 cups | water |
| 1 pinch | salt |
Instructions
- 1 Rinse the sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
- 2 Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight for best results.
- 3 Drain the soaked rice and transfer it to a steamer basket lined with a clean, damp cloth.
- 4 Bring water to a boil in a pot or steamer base.
- 5 Place the steamer basket over the boiling water, ensuring the water does not touch the rice.
- 6 Cover the rice with the edges of the cloth and place a lid on the steamer.
- 7 Steam the rice for about 30-40 minutes, checking occasionally to ensure it is cooked through and sticky.
- 8 Once the rice is cooked, remove it from the steamer and let it sit for a few minutes before serving.
Tips
For a more authentic flavor, consider steaming the rice over banana leaves.
