Ingredients
| 2 cups | mandakki (puffed rice) |
| 1 cup | sev (fried gram flour noodles) |
| 1 medium | onion, finely chopped |
| 1 medium | tomato, finely chopped |
| 2 tablespoons | peanuts |
| 1 tablespoon | oil |
| 1 teaspoon | mustard seeds |
| 1 teaspoon | turmeric powder |
| 1 teaspoon | red chili powder |
| 1 pinch | asafoetida |
| — | salt to taste |
| 2 tablespoons | coriander leaves, chopped |
| 1 tablespoon | lemon juice |
Instructions
- 1 Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Allow them to splutter.
- 2 Add peanuts and fry until they turn golden brown.
- 3 Add finely chopped onions and sauté until they become translucent.
- 4 Stir in the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften.
- 5 Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, asafoetida, and salt. Mix well.
- 6 Add the mandakki (puffed rice) and mix thoroughly so that it is coated with the spice mixture.
- 7 Cook for 2-3 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally.
- 8 Turn off the heat and add sev, coriander leaves, and lemon juice. Mix well.
- 9 Serve immediately, garnished with additional sev and coriander leaves if desired.
Tips
For a spicier version, increase the amount of red chili powder or add finely chopped green chilies.
