Ingredients

1 cup grated fresh coconut
1 cup jaggery
1 teaspoon cardamom powder
1 tablespoon ghee

Instructions

  1. 1 In a pan, heat the ghee over low heat.
  2. 2 Add the grated coconut and sauté for 2-3 minutes until it is slightly dry.
  3. 3 Add the jaggery to the coconut and mix well.
  4. 4 Cook the mixture on low heat until the jaggery melts and combines with the coconut, stirring continuously.
  5. 5 Add the cardamom powder and mix well.
  6. 6 Continue to cook until the mixture thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan.
  7. 7 Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  8. 8 Once cool enough to handle, take small portions of the mixture and roll them into small balls or 'laaru'.
  9. 9 Allow the 'laaru' to cool completely before serving.

Tips

Ensure the jaggery is completely melted and mixed with the coconut for a smooth texture.
