| 1 teaspoon | cumin seeds |
| 1 teaspoon | mustard seeds |
| 1 sprig | curry leaves |
| — | salt to taste |
| 1 tablespoon | lemon juice |
| 2 tablespoons | fresh coriander leaves, chopped |
Instructions
- 1 Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat.
- 2 Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and curry leaves, and let them splutter.
- 3 Add the sliced onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- 4 Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a couple of minutes until the raw smell disappears.
- 5 Add the chopped tomatoes and green chilies, and cook until the tomatoes turn soft and mushy.
- 6 Mix in the turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook for a couple of minutes.
- 7 Add the natukodi pieces to the pan and stir well to coat them with the masala.
- 8 Cover and cook on low heat for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
- 9 Remove the lid, increase the heat to medium-high, and fry the chicken until the masala thickens and coats the chicken pieces well.
- 10 Sprinkle garam masala and lemon juice over the chicken, mix well, and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- 11 Garnish with chopped coriander leaves before serving.
Tips
For a more authentic flavor, use fresh natukodi (country chicken) instead of broiler chicken.
