Ingredients

Country Chicken 500 grams Country Chicken , cut into pieces
oil 2 tablespoons Oil
Onion 1 large Onion , finely sliced
ginger-garlic paste 2 teaspoons Ginger-garlic paste
Tomato 2 medium Tomato , finely chopped
Green Chili 2 Green Chili , slit
red chili powder 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
turmeric powder 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
coriander powder 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
garam masala 1 teaspoon Garam masala
Cumin 1 teaspoon Cumin , seeds
Mustard Seed 1 teaspoon Mustard Seed
Curry Leaf 1 sprig Curry Leaf
salt Salt , to taste
lemon juice 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
Cilantro 2 tablespoons Cilantro , chopped

Instructions

  1. 1 Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat.
  2. 2 Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and curry leaves, and let them splutter.
  3. 3 Add the sliced onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  4. 4 Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a couple of minutes until the raw smell disappears.
  5. 5 Add the chopped tomatoes and green chilies, and cook until the tomatoes turn soft and mushy.
  6. 6 Mix in the turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook for a couple of minutes.
  7. 7 Add the natukodi pieces to the pan and stir well to coat them with the masala.
  8. 8 Cover and cook on low heat for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
  9. 9 Remove the lid, increase the heat to medium-high, and fry the chicken until the masala thickens and coats the chicken pieces well.
  10. 10 Sprinkle garam masala and lemon juice over the chicken, mix well, and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  11. 11 Garnish with chopped coriander leaves before serving.

Tips

For a more authentic flavor, use fresh natukodi (country chicken) instead of broiler chicken.
