Ingredients

1 cup green peas
1 tablespoon ghee
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
1 medium tomato, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
1 cup water
1 tablespoon fresh coriander leaves, chopped
salt to taste

Instructions

  1. 1 Grind the green peas coarsely in a blender without adding water.
  2. 2 Heat ghee in a pan over medium heat and add cumin seeds.
  3. 3 Once the cumin seeds splutter, add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
  4. 4 Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another minute until the raw smell disappears.
  5. 5 Add the chopped tomato and cook until it becomes soft and mushy.
  6. 6 Stir in turmeric powder, coriander powder, and red chili powder. Mix well.
  7. 7 Add the coarsely ground green peas and mix everything together.
  8. 8 Pour in the water and add salt to taste. Stir well.
  9. 9 Cover and cook on low heat for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the peas are cooked and the flavors are well combined.
  10. 10 Garnish with chopped coriander leaves before serving.

Tips

For a richer flavor, you can add a pinch of garam masala towards the end of cooking.
