Ingredients

1 large onion
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 cup breadcrumbs
vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. 1 Peel the onion and slice it into 1/4-inch thick rings.
  2. 2 Separate the rings and set aside.
  3. 3 In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika.
  4. 4 Dip each onion ring into the buttermilk, then dredge it in the flour mixture.
  5. 5 Coat the rings in breadcrumbs for extra crunch.
  6. 6 Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat.
  7. 7 Fry the onion rings in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
