Ingredients

10 green chilies
1 cup freshly grated coconut
1 tablespoon tamarind pulp
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon urad dal
1 pinch asafoetida
1 tablespoon oil
5 curry leaves

Instructions

  1. 1 Wash the green chilies and remove the stems.
  2. 2 Grind the green chilies, grated coconut, tamarind pulp, and salt into a smooth paste using a little water.
  3. 3 Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  4. 4 Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
  5. 5 Add urad dal and fry until golden brown.
  6. 6 Add a pinch of asafoetida and curry leaves, and sauté for a few seconds.
  7. 7 Add the ground chutney paste to the pan and mix well.
  8. 8 Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring continuously, until the raw smell of the chilies dissipates.
  9. 9 Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before serving.

Adjust the number of green chilies based on your spice preference.
