Ingredients
| 1 cup | heavy cream |
| 1 cup | whole milk |
| 1/4 cup | granulated sugar |
| 1 teaspoon | vanilla extract |
| 1 packet | unflavored gelatin |
| 2 tablespoons | cold water |
| — | fresh berries for garnish (optional) |
Instructions
- 1 In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water and let it sit for 5 minutes to bloom.
- 2 In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, and granulated sugar.
- 3 Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is hot but not boiling.
- 4 Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- 5 Add the bloomed gelatin to the hot cream mixture and stir until the gelatin is completely dissolved.
- 6 Pour the mixture into ramekins or serving glasses and let them cool to room temperature.
- 7 Cover the ramekins with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until set.
- 8 Before serving, garnish with fresh berries if desired.
Tips
For a smoother texture, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve before pouring into ramekins.
