Ingredients

1 cup roasted chana dal (pappulu)
1/4 cup dry red chilies
1 tablespoon cumin seeds
1/2 teaspoon asafoetida
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon oil

Instructions

  1. 1 Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. 2 Add dry red chilies and cumin seeds to the pan and roast until the chilies turn dark but not burnt.
  3. 3 Remove the roasted chilies and cumin seeds from the pan and let them cool.
  4. 4 In a blender, add roasted chana dal, cooled red chilies, cumin seeds, asafoetida, and salt.
  5. 5 Grind the mixture to a fine powder.
  6. 6 Store the Pappula Podi in an airtight container.

Tips

Adjust the number of red chilies to suit your spice preference.
