Ingredients
| 1 cup | raw rice |
| 1 cup | freshly grated coconut |
| 1 cup | jaggery |
| 1 teaspoon | cardamom powder |
| 10 | turmeric leaves |
| 1 | pinch of salt |
| 0.5 cup | water |
Instructions
- 1 Wash the raw rice thoroughly and soak it in water for at least 2 hours.
- 2 Drain the soaked rice and grind it to a smooth batter using a little water. The batter should be thick and smooth.
- 3 In a separate bowl, mix grated coconut, jaggery, and cardamom powder to make the filling.
- 4 Clean the turmeric leaves and wipe them dry.
- 5 Take a turmeric leaf and spread a thin layer of rice batter evenly over it.
- 6 Place a spoonful of the coconut-jaggery filling on one half of the leaf, leaving some space at the edges.
- 7 Fold the leaf over to cover the filling and press gently to seal the edges.
- 8 Repeat the process with the remaining leaves, batter, and filling.
- 9 Arrange the prepared patholis in a steamer and steam them for about 20-25 minutes until the rice batter is cooked.
- 10 Once done, remove from the steamer and allow them to cool slightly before serving.
Tips
For a more intense flavor, you can add a few crushed cloves to the coconut-jaggery filling.
