Ingredients

Gram Flour 1 cup Gram Flour
turmeric powder 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
red chili powder 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
Cumin 1 teaspoon Cumin , seeds
Mustard Seed 1 teaspoon Mustard Seed
oil 1 tablespoon Oil
water 1 cup Water
salt to taste Salt

Instructions

  1. 1 In a mixing bowl, combine gram flour, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt.
  2. 2 Gradually add water to the mixture, stirring continuously to form a smooth batter.
  3. 3 Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan and add cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Allow them to splutter.
  4. 4 Pour the batter into the pan and cook on low heat, stirring continuously until it thickens and leaves the sides of the pan.
  5. 5 Spread the thickened batter evenly on a greased plate and let it cool. Once set, cut into diamond or square shapes to make patodi.
  6. 6 Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté until fragrant.
  7. 7 Add the chopped onion and cook until golden brown.
  8. 8 Stir in coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
  9. 9 Add coconut milk and 2 cups of water. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  10. 10 Gently add the patodi pieces into the boiling curry and simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  11. 11 Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot.

Tips

For a richer taste, you can add a pinch of asafoetida (hing) while tempering the spices.
