Ingredients

1 cup rice flour
1 cup freshly grated coconut
1 cup jaggery
1 teaspoon cardamom powder
1 salt to taste
6-8 turmeric leaves
1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. 1 Mix the rice flour with a pinch of salt and water to form a smooth, spreadable batter.
  2. 2 In a pan, melt the jaggery with a little water until it forms a syrup.
  3. 3 Add the grated coconut and cardamom powder to the jaggery syrup and cook until the mixture thickens slightly.
  4. 4 Clean the turmeric leaves and pat them dry.
  5. 5 Spread a thin layer of the rice flour batter on each turmeric leaf.
  6. 6 Place a spoonful of the coconut-jaggery filling on one side of the leaf.
  7. 7 Fold the leaf over to cover the filling and press gently.
  8. 8 Steam the folded leaves in a steamer for about 20-25 minutes.
  9. 9 Once cooked, remove from the steamer and let them cool slightly before serving.

Tips

For enhanced aroma, ensure the turmeric leaves are fresh and tender.
