Ingredients

1 cup | Urad dal |

1 cup | Rice , raw |
|
1 teaspoon | Cumin , seeds |
|
1 teaspoon | Black Peppercorn |
|
1 teaspoon | Salt |
|
1 tablespoon | Ginger , paste |
|
1 tablespoon | Green chili paste |
|
1 tablespoon | Coriander Seed |
|
— | Water , as needed |
Instructions
- 1 Wash and soak the urad dal and rice separately for 6-8 hours or overnight.
- 2 Drain the water and grind the urad dal to a smooth paste using minimal water.
- 3 Grind the rice coarsely and mix it with the urad dal paste.
- 4 Add cumin seeds, black peppercorns, salt, ginger paste, green chili paste, and coriander seeds to the mixture.
- 5 Mix all the ingredients thoroughly to form a thick batter.
- 6 Spread a plastic sheet or clean cloth under the sun.
- 7 Take small portions of the batter and drop them onto the sheet to form small dumplings.
- 8 Sun-dry the dumplings for 2-3 days until they are completely dry and hard.
- 9 Store the dried vadiyalu in an airtight container for future use.
Tips
Ensure the vadiyalu are completely dry before storing to prevent spoilage.
