Ingredients

Rice 1 cup Rice , cooked
water 2 cups Water
Onion 1 small Onion , finely chopped
mustard oil 2 tablespoons Mustard oil
salt 1 teaspoon Salt
Chili 1 Chili , green, chopped
Cilantro 1 tablespoon Cilantro , chopped

Instructions

  1. 1 Wash the cooked rice under running water to remove excess starch.
  2. 2 Soak the washed rice in 2 cups of water overnight or for at least 6-8 hours.
  3. 3 Drain the water from the soaked rice before serving.
  4. 4 In a mixing bowl, combine the soaked rice with mustard oil, chopped onion, green chili, and salt.
  5. 5 Mix well to ensure the flavors are evenly distributed.
  6. 6 Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.

Tips

Poita Bhat is best served chilled and can be accompanied with mashed potatoes or fried fish for a complete meal.
