1 cup | Rice , raw |
|
1 cup | Sugar |
|
1 cup | Ghee |
|
1 cup | Water |
|
1 tablespoon | Cardamom , powder |
Instructions
- 1 Wash the raw rice thoroughly and soak it in water for about 2 hours.
- 2 Drain the water and grind the soaked rice into a very fine batter using minimal water.
- 3 Heat a non-stick pan and pour a small amount of the rice batter to make a thin crepe-like sheet. Cook on low heat until the sheet is dry and translucent.
- 4 Carefully remove the sheet from the pan and set aside. Repeat until all the batter is used.
- 5 In a bowl, mix sugar and cardamom powder.
- 6 Take one rice sheet, spread a thin layer of ghee over it, and sprinkle the sugar-cardamom mixture evenly.
- 7 Fold the sheet from both sides to form a rectangular shape, and then roll it tightly.
- 8 Repeat the process with the remaining sheets.
- 9 Serve the pootharekulu as a sweet snack or dessert.
Tips
Ensure the rice sheets are very thin and translucent for the best texture.
