Ingredients

200 grams paneer
2 tablespoons mustard oil
1 teaspoon panch phoron
1 cup onion, finely chopped
1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
2 cups tomato, pureed
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon cumin powder
0.5 teaspoon garam masala
salt to taste
1 cup water
2 tablespoons fresh coriander leaves, chopped

Instructions

  1. 1 Cut the paneer into cubes and set aside.
  2. 2 Heat mustard oil in a pan over medium heat.
  3. 3 Add panch phoron and let it splutter.
  4. 4 Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  5. 5 Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another 2 minutes.
  6. 6 Add the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates from the masala.
  7. 7 Mix in the turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and cumin powder.
  8. 8 Season with salt and cook the masala for a few more minutes.
  9. 9 Add the paneer cubes and mix well to coat them with the masala.
  10. 10 Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a boil.
  11. 11 Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes until the gravy thickens.
  12. 12 Sprinkle garam masala and stir well.
  13. 13 Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.

Tips

For a richer taste, you can fry the paneer cubes lightly before adding them to the gravy.
