Ingredients
| 1 cup | basmati rice |
| 1 cup | minced pork |
| 1 medium | onion, finely chopped |
| 2 cloves | garlic, minced |
| 1 inch | ginger, minced |
| 1 tablespoon | mustard oil |
| 1 teaspoon | turmeric powder |
| 1 teaspoon | black pepper powder |
| — | salt to taste |
| 2 cups | water |
| 2 tablespoons | fresh coriander leaves, chopped |
Instructions
- 1 Wash and soak the basmati rice in water for 30 minutes, then drain.
- 2 Heat mustard oil in a pan over medium heat.
- 3 Add chopped onions, minced garlic, and ginger to the pan. Sauté until the onions turn translucent.
- 4 Add the minced pork to the pan and cook until it turns brown.
- 5 Stir in the turmeric powder, black pepper powder, and salt.
- 6 Add the soaked and drained rice to the pan, stirring well to combine with the pork mixture.
- 7 Pour in 2 cups of water and bring it to a boil.
- 8 Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and let it simmer until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed, about 20 minutes.
- 9 Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
Tips
For an authentic taste, use mustard oil as it adds a distinct flavor to the dish.
