Ingredients

500 grams chicken, cut into pieces
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
10 curry leaves
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 tablespoon tamarind pulp
2 tablespoons Puli Munchi masala powder
1 cup water
salt to taste

Instructions

  1. 1 Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. 2 Add mustard seeds and allow them to splutter.
  3. 3 Add curry leaves and chopped onions, sauté until onions turn golden brown.
  4. 4 Add turmeric powder and mix well.
  5. 5 Add the chicken pieces and sauté until they are lightly browned.
  6. 6 Mix in the tamarind pulp and Puli Munchi masala powder.
  7. 7 Pour in the water and add salt to taste.
  8. 8 Cover and cook on low heat until the chicken is tender and the gravy thickens, about 25-30 minutes.
  9. 9 Serve hot with steamed rice or roti.
